Disc Film Processing,
Scanning and Printing

Дисков Филм • ディスクフィルム

|We handle every type of Disc film or Disc negative to very high standards|

We offers the only Disc film service in the UK, also serving Europe, Australia, and Japan.

There has not been a commercial Disc film processing facility in the UK since Kodak ceased operations in their Disc film department from July 2001.
Kodak now recommend us to carry out this very specialist service. We process and print Discs from all over the world, and have thousands of satisfied Customers.

We process all films individually by hand for optimum results. We then scan the Discs using what is currently the best available scanner, at a very high resolution.
Finally we enhance and restore the images with state-of-the-art software, in order to produce high quality prints, and even enlargements up to 8"x6" size.
We can invariably reprint pre-processed Disc negatives to much better quality than the old original prints.

More Information...

Disc film is dealt with in batches, usually every 2 months or so. This usually means the total turnaround time is a few weeks over this to allow for digital restoration and printing. Please make sure that before your film is sent, you understand that we are not a 'One-hour' Photo Shop and there may be a wait for your photographs.
We can usually offer a faster turnaround (a 10-day 'rush service') at a premium price, if required.

Please also note that the older disc films can deteriorate with age, due to the small film format and the imperfections of the plastic casing,
which can have a pronounced effect with inadequate storage. There is a fairly simple way of telling how old your film is.

Look in the bottom right-hand corner of the Disc label, and you will see a single number, sometimes inside a red or black square.

The Disc film Generation number gives a clue the age.

For Kodak Film, Type-8 is the most recent material, and likely to give excellent (if not perfect) results.
All non-Kodak material will now be at least 12 years old, but again the most recent Type 3 usually give best results.

The following is a basic list of the more common Disc films:

Kodacolor HR (Type-1) 1982-84
Kodacolor VR (Types 2-5) 1984-92
Kodak Gold (Type-6) 1992-95
Kodak Gold (Type-7) 1994-97
Kodak Gold (Type-8) 1997-99 (the last Discs expired in 2001)
Fujicolor HR (Types 1,2,3) - approx.1983-95
Konica HR, SR-G (Types 1,2,3) - approx 1984-95
3M or Scotchcolor HR (Types 1,2,3) - approx. 1984-96
Own Brand films (Types 1,2,3) - 1983-96
(Own-brand films include Boots, Truprint, Supasnaps, Belmont, Sainsburys, ColourCare)

We can still handle all these Disc film types, but be aware that there is a slight reduction in the success rate with the much older films. Most of our Customers find their Discs to contain sentimental pictures, so it is definitely worth sending them in. Currently around 95% of all Discs we develop have printable images on them, an impressively high success rate given that the average age of Disc we receive is about 20 years old. We always offer the best chance of recovering your old Disc film!
